Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. • 146. Menopause: Why Sex Hurts and How to Fix It.
    Feb 5 2026
Hearing the words, "You have cancer," had to be the biggest shock of my life. My oncologist advised me to go off all hormone treatment immediately. So, within 48 hours, I had a cancer diagnosis, hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, and painful sex. I'm a pretty happy and upbeat person, but the combination of this diagnosis, along with all of these other important things, was almost too much. Today's guest, Dr. Corinne Menn, believes that our treatment of women in menopause can be downright inhumane. She explained that there are better ways to move women off of hormones during cancer and that there rarely needs to be an immediate change. We also talked about the importance of having a positive and enjoyable sexual relationship. She was saying that so many of her patients have given up on sex due to pain. Dr. Menn explained the power of vaginal estrogen and how this one change can lead to significant improvements. Dr. Menn explained that a recent study discovered that only 7% of ob/gyns were comfortable talking to their patients about menopause WHAT?!? Who is supposed to help us? How about our quality of life, including sleep and weight gain? Not to mention the higher risk of heart disease. If you want to be armed with information next time you see your doctor, this is the episode you need to hear! ______ VitaliI knew little about copper peptides until I heard Vitali founder Debbi Barber on a podcast. She was talking about the power of copper peptides to help reduce the appearance of scars. Since I have plenty of scars, I thought I’d give it a try. I used the GHK-Cu Serum on my scars and my face. Within days, the skin on my face became so much softer! And after a few months of use, my skin felt thicker and smoother. Bonus that my mastectomy scars also started to lighten! • 145. Are Scars Dangerous?
    Jan 22 2026
I love the Indiana Jones movies. One of my favorite scenes is from the first film, where he shows Marian all his scars and tells her where they hurt so she can kiss them. Scars are no big deal, right? I certainly have my fair share of them after six breast cancer surgeries. What if scars were preventing your body from truly healing? Scars, the Nervous System & Neural Therapy Most of us think of scars as no big deal, just something left behind after surgery, an injury, or acne. However, research shows that around 10% of individuals with scars experience neuropathic pain, indicating that scars can have a deeper impact beyond the surface of the skin. In some cases, they can interfere with how your nervous system communicates with the rest of your body. Your skin is packed with nerves that constantly send signals to your brain. When the skin is injured, those signals can get disrupted. Even years later, a scar can continue to create tension, pain, or symptoms in areas that seem totally unrelated. What Is Neural Therapy? And Why Did I Try It? Neural therapy is a gentle treatment that helps reset irritated or misfiring nerves using tiny injections of local anesthetic, often into scars. After my last surgery caused excessive scar tissue and failed healing, another surgery was suggested. A podcast guest mentioned neural therapy, I tried it. Why Treat Scars? Some scars can disrupt the nervous system, contributing to pain, inflammation, or limited movement sometimes far from the scar itself. In today’s podcast, Dr. Alison Egan shares how Neural Therapy transformed my surgical scars. I wish I’d known this sooner my results truly surprised even my oncologist. ______ Body Deli My all-time fav for non-toxic skincare. Their Phoenix Lift oil is always on my face! I am honored when a person chooses me to help investigate their health and guide them down the path of wellness. I’ve spent a lifetime using and abusing my body through collegiate rowing, professional wilderness guiding, ski instructing, river rafting and sailing because of this I know a thing or two about injuries first hand! I know how frustrating injuries can be and what the long recovery journey entails. I was drawn to Naturopathic medicine through my own search to optimize health, prevent injury and recover outside of the conventional medical model. I’ve believed in the body’s ability to heal long before I attended naturopathic medical school, and found my own path to physical recovery through natural therapies, hands on treatments (like injection therapies) and gentle movement. Jan 8 2026
🌙 Sleep Better, Live Better: Your Guide to Restful Nights and Peaceful Days 🌱 We all know sleep is important, but getting a good night's rest can sometimes feel impossible. Here are simple tips to help you sleep better, get your body clock back on track, and feel better overall. 🌞 1. Reset Your Circadian Rhythm with Light Your body does best with a regular routine, and your body clock runs more smoothly when you stick to a schedule. Wake up at the same time each day and get some natural light right away. Just 10-15 minutes outside or by a window helps your body know when to be awake and when to sleep. As evening comes, spend less time looking at bright screens (yes, your phone too) and use softer, dimmer lights. This tells your body it is time to relax and get ready for sleep. 🌙 2. Ground Yourself Before Bed "Grounding" means connecting with the earth to feel more balanced. Walking barefoot on grass or sitting on the ground for a few minutes can help you feel calmer, relax, and sleep better. 💔 3. Say Goodbye to Toxic People We all meet people who make us feel tired, and they can affect our sleep too. If you are around people who bring you down, it is harder to relax. Take time to protect your peace. Set limits with people who drain you and spend more time with those who make you feel good. 🌱 4. Relax and Wind Down Sometimes your body needs help winding down. Create a calming bedtime ritual, like reading, journaling, or soothing music. A warm bath or light stretching can also prepare you for sleep. Try to avoid anything too stimulating right before bed no stressful conversations! Better sleep is within your reach. Reset your rhythm, ground yourself, and avoid toxins for restful nights. Sweet dreams and take care of yourself! 🌙💖 ______ My newsletter https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup ______ Connect with Deborah Deborah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whydidigetcancer/ Deborah on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DebsHealthCoachKitchen Deborah on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ydidigetcancer Deborah on Pinterest: https://in.pinterest.com/whydidigetcancer/ Join Deb's weekly newsletter: https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup Learn more about your ad choices.
