You can be good at what you do and still feel like you are barely holding it together. I’m Emily Ann Behar, a licensed clinical professional counselor in Las Vegas, and I’m talking straight about the messy middle: burnout, emotional labor, and the quiet pressure to be the reliable one for clients, family, and everyone counting on you.

I dig into a truth a lot of helpers learn the hard way: helping people is not the same skill as running a business. Therapy skills do not automatically come with operations, systems, staffing, quality assurance, and the tough decisions that leadership demands. I also connect that idea to home life, because without routines and processes, everything piles up fast and the stress starts to feel personal.

Then we go personal. I share what it’s like being married to a firefighter on a “consistently inconsistent” waterfall schedule, how reintegration into parenting together can trigger communication breakdowns, and why resentment can show up even when you love your partner and respect their work. We ground it with CBT language around thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and I offer practical repair: boundaries, timing, small rituals, weekly check-ins, and paying attention to what your body is telling you before you hit a breaking point.

If this resonates, listen all the way through, then subscribe, share it with someone who’s carrying a lot, and leave a review so more burned-out helpers can find this conversation. What’s one thing you wish you could say out loud right now?
