  • Why You're Still Stuck (It's Not a Character Flaw)
    Aug 21 2026

Most of what we call overthinking isn't thinking at all. It's surveillance.

Nick opens with a confession: forty-five minutes in bed, replaying a ninety-second conversation from every possible angle. Not processing. Not problem-solving. Just watching.

He introduces the Surveillance Camera — a metaphor for the part of the mind that records, replays, and zooms in endlessly without ever intervening. The camera isn't malicious. It's just stuck. And most of us have been running the feed for so long we've forgotten we can look away.

The episode offers three practical anchors:

    • Identify the Feed — are you watching past footage or a future simulation? Naming it is the first separation. • Become the Guard, Not the Camera — the guard decides what's worth watching. Is it footage or information? • Replace the Feed — you can't just turn it off. You have to give the camera something else to watch. One action. One step.

Nick closes with a direct, unhurried word for anyone who's been running the feed for years — not weeks, not months. The overthinking isn't a sign of brokenness. It's a sign you've been doing the wrong job.

Uplifted Living is a personal growth and mindset podcast for thoughtful people who want to live with more clarity, intention, and self-trust — without hustle culture, burnout, or constant optimization. New episodes every two weeks.

  • You Don't Need Certainty — You Need a Compass
    Aug 7 2026

    There's a difference between a compass and a GPS.

One tells you which way is north. The other tells you exactly where to turn — and panics when you miss the exit.

Most of us have spent years looking for a GPS for our lives. Turn-by-turn directions. Certainty. Someone to tell us exactly what to do. But when you don't know the destination yet, the GPS is useless. Worse than useless — it recalculates endlessly and tells you to make a U-turn every time you try something new.

A compass doesn't do any of that. A compass just points north.

In this episode, Nick explores three anchors for making decisions from clarity instead of fear:

    • Pause before you navigate — how to tell whether you're moving toward something or away from something

    • The compass only does one thing — why your values give you direction, not turn-by-turn directions

    • The next 50 feet — you don't need to see the whole path. Just enough to take the next step.

This is Season 2, Episode 9 of Uplifted Living, building on the work of The Trust Battery (S2E7) and The Enough Threshold (S2E8).

  • You're Not Behind. You Just Never Set a Finish Line.
    Jul 25 2026

I was sitting in my car in the gym parking lot, engine off, staring at the steering wheel. I'd just finished a workout. A good one. The kind where you know you showed up.

And instead of feeling good about it, I heard myself think: Should've added one more set.

That's not a thought about fitness. That's a thought about worth. And I realized — I do this everywhere. Finish an episode: should've been tighter. Spend an afternoon with my wife: should've been more present. Complete a project I've been working on for months: should've been better, faster, different.

There was never a moment where I hit "enough." The line kept moving.

In this episode, Nick explores three anchors for recognizing when you've already done enough — in a culture that will never tell you:

    • Name the "More" — get painfully specific about what you're actually chasing. Undefined "more" isn't ambition — it's a trap designed so you can never win.

    • The Cost Audit — ask whether the "more" is worth more than what it costs. Most of it isn't.

    • The Enough Practice — define enough in advance, because enough is a decision you make, not a feeling you wait for.

This is Season 2, Episode 8 of Uplifted Living, following The Trust Battery (S2E7) and leading into The Compass (S2E9).
