In addition to her work in marriage and couples counseling, Shelly Annameier works with individuals experiencing disordered eating and body image issues. She uses a framework called Intuitive Eating which aims to change our relationship with food, exercise, and the larger fitness culture in general. We talk about diet culture, gender differences in messaging around food and exercise, and how the fitness industry warps our perception not just of how we look at ourselves, but also how we ignore what our own bodies are trying to tell us. • International Travel
    Jul 17 2020
This episode tackles a topic that is near and dear to the hearts of Drew and myself. We have both been lucky enough to travel and live abroad and it has given us a unique lens through which we view the world. Don’t anticipate a guide book conversation giving you a list of 5 things you must do in (insert city). This conversations tackles the often unspoken side of travel you don’t see or read about on social media. Bouts of loneliness, soul crushing flights, shitty airplane food, sickness, unimaginable poverty are just a few of the topics we will discuss in an attempt to paint a clearer picture of the realities of travel. At the end of the conversation I think you’ll realize that both Drew and myself have a hopeless addiction to travel but experience has taught us that the real lessons of jetsetting cannot be captured by any Instagram filter. Carson Vaughan is a freelance journalist whose work appears in major publications like the New York Times, NPR, The New Yorker, Pacific Standard, and many others. He’s also the author of the (fantastic) book, Zoo Nebraska: The Dismantling of an American Dream. Carson grew up in small-town Nebraska and writes about life in the Great Plains and American West. We sat down to talk about our mutually shared feeling of having one foot in each of the so-called “two Americas.” Thanks for listening. The post Two Americas appeared first on Two Old Millennials.

  • Millennial Money
    Jul 17 2020
On today’s episode Nate speaks with Brian Kelly, a former certified financial planner who now works with companies and professional sports teams helping employees and athletes better manage their money. This conversation digs into why people struggle to put together a sustainable financial plan and specific challenges that millennials face regarding their finances. What this episode is not is a get rich tutorial, in fact I anticipate criticism about the advice rendered being too basic. But in a world of materialism and opulence, I look at basic financial management as a necessary skill set that many do not possess. Millennial or not there are good takeaways from this episode that could set you on the right path towards the ever daunting and ever-changing idea of financial freedom.
