Writer Mark Wooden has more thoughts on Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather, Part III." These thoughts are not as serious as in the main episode (number 12), but are interesting nonetheless.

They're also not safe for work. You've been warned.

For links relevant to the episode, check out the Writer Mark Wooden website at - https://shadowdancesaga.com/tfts-episode-xii-the-godfather-part-iii/

Writer Mark Wooden defends what some would call the indefensible: Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo's "The Godfather, Part III" and "The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone."

Wooden looks at some unfortunate choices the filmmakers made but why those choices work for the movie. He also handles the elephant in the Corleone office, the casting of Sofia Coppola.

  • TFTS Ep XI - How to be a New Jack Writer
    Mar 2 2022
For links relevant to the episode, check out the Writer Mark Wooden website at - https://shadowdancesaga.com/tfts-episode-xi-how-to-be-a-new-jack-writer/

Writer Mark Wooden finishes up Black History Month with a look at the Mario Van Peebles movie, "New Jack City." Specifically, he analyzes the movie to discover four New Jack Techniques Van Peebles uses to raise what could have been a forgettable gangster movie into a classic movie.

As if the performance from Wesley Snipes and the soundtrack weren't enough to do that already.

A warning though: I've just about given up on keeping the show apolitical. There's just too much bad going on not to take a stand. But don't worry; if you're not a racist fascist, you'll be just fine.

For his tenth episode and Black History Month, Writer Mark Wooden uses African-American filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles's "Watermelon Man" and Mel Brooks's "Blazing Saddles" (written with Richard Pryor) to examine how a creative can make an offensive movie while maintaining a moral high ground above the "cancel culture" pitchforks.

Warning: Mark gets a little political in this one. But if you're not a racist or an asshole, you should be okay!
