  • Ep 25: Jesus' Early Life & Ministry Bible Reading Plan
    Jun 25 2026

    Welcome back to the podcast!

Today, we're sharing our next printable Bible reading plan, which is the FIRST of our New Testament plans!

It covers the early life of Jesus as a child as well as His early ministry. We're picking up where we left off in Episode 21 in the storyline of the Bible.

Not only will we go through the early life of Jesus, but Amy and I talk about the "silent" years between the testaments. It's really cool to see what God was doing in those 400 years. While it's true that no prophets wrote or spoke during this 400-year period, God was anything but silent as He arranged things. Galatians 4:4-5 reminds us that in the fullness of time, Jesus came born of a woman to redeem those under the law.

  • Ep 24: What is Heresy?
    Jun 18 2026

Welcome back to This Reading Mama’s podcast!*

The term "heresy" is thrown around a lot. Using this term incorrectly has always been an issue in the church. Social media, however, has allowed more people to have platforms and influence.

Often, someone else is called a heretic simply because they believe something that someone else disagrees with.

But not all teachings that differ related to Christianity are heretical in nature.

Today, on the podcast, Amy and I break down the differences between:

    • essential teachings in the Christian faith
    • non-essential teachings of the Christian faith
    • true heresy that is against God or the pure gospel as revealed in Scripture

I hope this will be helpful to you as you discern the differences and help teach others to do the same!

    ---

In our previous episode (episode 22), Amy and I shared about a time in each of our lives when Bible answers didn’t come so quickly. Sometimes, you’ll have nagging questions about God or the Bible. This may be a short or a long season of searching for answers. We hope that episode was encouraging to you!

Today, we’re spring boarding to a topic that’s very much related. As we search for answers, we must be careful who we read and follow. False teaching and false teachers abound.

Often, false teachers will take these difficult questions and create their own doctrines or teachings that may seem compelling. False teachers often tug at our heartstrings, appealing to our emotions. We must practice discernment as we search for answers, especially as AI becomes more and more common!

In recent podcast episodes, we've discussed reading the Bible context, looking at the original languages, and using different translations. Studying God's Word with our heads is very important.

Today, however, we have a different kind of episode.

This one is a bit more personal, as Amy and Becky share times in their lives when Bible answers didn't come so quickly.

There are times when our heart desires answers. Sometimes those answers take YEARS to come. It's possible they may never come on this side of Heaven.

What do we do in those times of searching or doubt? I hope this episode will encourage your heart as you study His Word!

  • Ep 18: Which Bible Translation is the Best?
    Apr 2 2026

Welcome back to This Reading Mama’s podcast!

With so many English translations of the Bible out there, which one is the best? On the one hand, so many English translations can be a blessing. On the other hand, it can feel overwhelming!

In today's episode, we walk you through the Bible translation continuum using alliteration: formal translations (word-for-word), fusion translations (a mix of formal and functional), functional translations (thought-for-thought), and free paraphrases, which aren't actual Bible translations.

We also will talk through a few red flags as you approach translations and some helpful tips for picking what works best for you.
