• Ana Filipovic Windsor - Refugee, Immigrant, U.S. Citizen - Episode #7 - The Thor Hour

    Ana Filipovic Windsor was born in Croatia as a refugee in the 1990s and grew up in a post-war country of Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 2009, she received a full ride scholarship to study at United World College in Mostar, a prestigious international high school, which opened the doors for her to study in the U.S. The first time she stepped onto US soil was in 2012 when she moved to Maryland to start her studies at Hood College. Today, a graduate of business and marketing, she lives with her husband Paul and dog Zoe in Washington, D.C. where she works in the field of digital media designing websites and creating email and social media marketing strategies. She recently became an American citizen, an honor she cherishes greatly and is excited for what’s to come.

    Miranda Darby is assistant professor of bioinformatics at Hood College.  Miranda has a Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  She has a passion for studying the human genome and teaching others to do the same.   Her current research focuses on the development of computational methods to identify and quantify the expression of novel RNAs using whole genome RNA sequencing.     Adam Lowe was named in one of Ultra Running Magazine’s top 100 performances of 2021.  He currently resides in Martinsburg, WV and is a member of Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club.  He wears all hats when it comes to running.  Whether it is running a beer mile or 100 mile race, pacing friends of any running level, or acting as race director, he steps up for the challenge.  Having only started running in 2010 as a means of weight loss, Adam quickly transitioned in the sport to a passionate ultra runner.
