  • Honesty, vulnerability, and a brave brush with death cleaning.

Welcome back. I know it's been a very long time since I recorded a show. Here's the deal. I was honestly debating if I should even bother as other things starting filling my days. I published Deep Dive 365 Words with my friend Barbara and got wrapped up with that creative project (marketing, book talks etc...) and this creative outlet got shoved on the back burner. This show is highly personal. I had a health episode several weeks ago that shook me to my core. The good news? I'm here to share it with you. Here's the gist. I went to donate a pint of blood like I do every 8 weeks or so through the San Diego Blood Bank. Instead of coming home and chilling, I had foolishly scheduled my annual mammogram immediately afterward. During the mammogram (my least favorite health check up) I passed out. Not once but several times. When I came to, I had a bunch of health professionals staring at me in my face asking me what year it was and who I was. Long story short...I went to the hospital, got hooked up with fluids, and they did an EKG. The ticker is good. The doctor on duty at the ER said it was the perfect storm. Dehydrated, donated blood, and endured a vice grip on my breasts. Bam, down for the count. I debated whether or not to do this show. So, I asked my mother, and she reached out through my music and it immediately switched over to "Brave" by Sara Barielles. My mom gave me my answer through a song. I talk about my fear, getting my life in order and the book that found me not once but twice..."The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning." So, here I am listening to "Brave" once again before I hit publish.

  • Words Matter. It's Deep Dive of 365 Words on The Next Room!
    Nov 19 2024

In 2022, My best friend Barbara came to visit me with an assignment from her life coach tucked under her arm. We sat outside on my veranda, and Barbara shared with me what her coach had told her. She asked her to dig deep and discover what certain words meant to her during her current cancer journey. I was intrigued since I had been by her side during all of her challenges. I also experienced the pain and grief of watching my big sister Lynn struggle and deteriorate with this disease. I knew in this moment that I would do anything within my power to support Barbara on her path of understanding and healing. We decided to share a word with one another each day expressing ourselves in a raw and unfiltered way. I did not expect that this project that was meant to help Barbara would also have such an enormous impact on me. What started out as a writing challenge ended up a tool to work through my own painful situations with misunderstandings and my unsettled grief. I thank you for joining us on a Deep Dive 365 Word sojourn of your own. I truly hope that this writing project will bring you even a sliver of the healing that the two of us have experienced along the way.

  • Soul Power & Mediumship with Lindsay Percival
    Nov 12 2024

From an early age Lindsay had a sense there was more to life than met the eye. As an only child she had a rich, imaginary life, full of friends and foe, and worlds within worlds to explore. When Lindsay graduated she thought journalism was her calling, to travel and to tell the truth. She wrote and broadcast for the BBC, among others, from Spain and Slovenia, to St Petersburg and Prague. After becoming a wife and a mother of three children it brought she focus inwards to the home and she got lost on that journey. She lost my mother and grandmother in quick succession, and found herself in a dark wood, deeply unhappy and desperately alone. Lindsay set out on a spiritual quest and found herself at the feet of Tibetan Lamas and Buddhist monks, a Native American Blackfoot, a Slovakian shaman, mediums, Reiki Masters, Tai Chi and yoga teachers, Tarot readers and psychotherapists, seeking on some level what she knew that she already knew... ...that death is never the end for our loved ones just a beautiful new beginning. Lindsay joins me this week to talk about the spirit world, healing energy, and soul care. She feels we are all divinely guided and it is time to rise up to the call. You will hear the gentle wisdom of Lindsay urging each of us to get out of our own way, and welcome this time of great transition. It is Soul Power and Soul Wisdom with Lindsay Percival on The Next Room!
