This new record takes you on a space adventure with the last humans escaping a post-apocalyptic Earth, searching for a new home in the galaxy. Scorched Earth is a groovy & thrashy death metal band from Indianapolis, for fans of '90s Sepultura and later-era Slayer. It was resurrected from the ashes of Indy groove/thrash metal band Panzer by drummer Alex McCracken and guitarist Brandon Signorino; you may recognize Brandon from Indy power-doom band Lavaborne. The band also features bassist Sara Swick and guitarist Andy Hassing, both of whom play in Indy traditional metal band Cursed Blade. The lineup is rounded out by powerhouse vocalist Mickey Marsh Davis, whose debut with the band was on Demolition, a demo released in November 2024. If you like chuggy riffs that are both catchy and heavy, you'll enjoy Scorched Earth!

North of the US border lies some amazing bands, this week I am venturing back to Vancouver, BC to check on Spell and see what magic is brewing. Cam gets down on the anvil with us this week and we are talking about some new music coming along with a Hell's Heroes stop in March and even more.

Cam was the first international guest on The Metal Forge back in 2020. They had been on my radar for a year or so at the time of appearing. That was the release of "Opulent Decay" and was still in just the audio episodes as the video wasn't a thing and I was still meticulously editing. Speed the clock up a couple years and after adding some cohorts to The Metal Forge cast of characters for spooky season of 2022, Cam made another appearance this time promoting "Tragic Magic".

If I were to give one reason or I should probably say, a reason to listen to Spell; I would say their mysticism. The mystery of just getting lost in "the sauce" as it were, is just amazing.
