Yet Israel failed in that priestly witness, leading to divine judgment and the beginning of the prophetic "times of the Gentiles"—a period of Gentile dominion over Jerusalem that continues to this day.

The Gentile nations paid a heavy price for Israel's unfaithfulness, sinking deeper into darkness while waiting centuries for fuller light.

But praise God—the wait ended when grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. He is the true Light to the Gentiles and the fulfillment of everything Israel was called (but failed) to be.
