Revelation 2:12-17

Back in our series on the church, Pastor Troy brings a convicting sermon from Jesus' message to the church at Pergamos. This is a church that had held strong to the name of Jesus in the face of persecution, yet they had let their guard down and the enemy had slipped in the back door. Troy reminds us that it is the small compromises that lead to big sin. The church had allowed false doctrine and riotous living to infiltrate their congregation, now the Lord called them to repent and to call out these sinful practices. As a church, we must forsake the ways, wants, and wisdom of this world and pursue pure and holy living in Christ.

Pastor Troy has been in a series series on Worship for a while, but says we will be taking an extended break as the Lord sees fit during the start of this new season. For January and beyond, we will be focusing on the Vision of the church, praying that God will help us to reach the Shumont community and to grow as a church. Pastor Cory is also making his way through the book of Ephesians in his messages, but is taking a break from that as well during this season. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel!

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
