The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle is one of Sherlock Holmes’s most charming and atmospheric holiday mysteries. The story begins when Peterson, a local commissionaire, brings Holmes an unusual pair of clues: an old, battered hat and a Christmas goose abandoned during a street scuffle. Nothing seems remarkable—until a priceless gemstone, the Blue Carbuncle, is discovered inside the goose.

The gem had recently been stolen from a distinguished countess, and an innocent man, John Horner, has been arrested for the crime. Curious and amused, Holmes decides to trace the origin of the bird. Following a trail of subtle clues—an inscription on the hat, a market label, the name of a nervous salesman—Holmes reconstructs the chain of events and uncovers the truth behind the theft.

The real culprit is James Ryder, a terrified servant who hid the jewel inside the goose before losing track of it. Faced with a broken, trembling man, Holmes surprises Watson by choosing mercy over justice. He releases Ryder, arguing that fear and guilt have already punished him enough.

The tale ends on a gentle, human note befitting the holiday spirit.Copyright Dream audio books
