Sarah Hellen, Creative Director at Hawarden Estate chats to Charlie Gladstone one of the current custodians of the Estate about the revitalisation of The West End at Hawarden Castle.
In this episode, Sarah and Charlie discuss the art and objects in one of the most iconic rooms in the apartment, ‘The Don Quixote’ room.
The room features an enormous (2.85 metres x 4.4 metres) oil on canvas painting which depicts the famous Don Quixote story, widely considered a founding work of Western literature. It was bought at auction by Charlie and the pair tell the story of how it came to be in The West End.
