As a former correctional officer in Alberta for almost 2 decades and the founder of Blue Line Fitness Testing which provides law enforcement fitness testing and wellness workshops, I started this podcast as a way for female first responders to be able to share their stories including the trials, tribulations and triumphs of their daily work. Our episodes cover female correctional officers and caseworkers, military personnel, female paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers, as well as feature female Edmonton Police Service officers, drug dog handlers and female tactical team members. I want to showcase the unique perspectives, skill sets and personalities that women bring to a first responder career and work to encourage more women to apply for these careers and step up to learn more about what we do.© 2025 Sirens, Slammers and Service - A podcast for Female First Responders Erfolg im Beruf Hygiene & gesundes Leben Seelische & Geistige Gesundheit Sozialwissenschaften Ökonomie

In this incredible episode of Sirens, Slammers, and Service, host Nikki Cloutier sits down with Lola Lagler, a powerhouse of lived experience, leadership, and resilience. Fresh off a career transition, Lola opens up about retiring from a distinguished 25-year military career and stepping into a new full-time civilian administrative role with the RCMP — a move that reflects both continuity and change in her commitment to public service.

Lola’s military résumé reads like a tour of duty through global hotspots and high-stakes operations:
    🔧 Marine Engineer
    👮 Military Police
    🛫 Air Marshal
    🔒 Close Protection Specialist
🌍 Mission Security Manager (Dubai, Afghanistan, Haiti, Ghana)

From protecting dignitaries overseas to leading security in complex environments, Lola reflects on the unique demands of military life and how that prepared her for what comes next.

We also talk ball hockey nationals — where she recently hit the floor again with intensity and pride — and how sports have been a constant force of connection, competition, and community throughout her career.

This episode is raw, real, and full of wisdom from a woman who’s lived multiple lives in uniform. If you’ve ever wondered what happens after the frontlines — this one’s for you.

🔥 After this episode, don’t miss our conversation with Kazz Gallant to dive even deeper into the incredible work of the Canadian Armed Forces and the people who serve in silence and strength.
