A dedication to my father in a book I wrote including selected poetry and complete sheet music of three of Dad’s songs. I featured I’m Yours and Lonely as a preface for Diamond Eyes, my first episode of Short and Sweet podcast, followed by Shinnyin’ Up a Moonbeam which prefaced A Promise Kept episode and now Highway to Love which prefaces Songs of my Father.

A Promise Kept is a ballad poem about a young writer who is searching for a farm to restore so she can write in solitude. She encounters a farm that surely needs repair but the old pump works and quenches her thirst. And so begins her quest to buy the farm and her encounter with the elderly owner gives them both new insights to the role of women and the duet of men and women to share the land.

Meggie, the little red-haired daughter of Ginny and Dan brings a true happy dance to all who know her. She brings an evolution to the human species which replaces the trigger in the brain for addiction and instead brings a clairvoyance to the family and a gratitude for the welcome change.

The answers await in a white and gold photo album given as a birthday gift to Ginny from Sharon, marking all the important events pictorially from beginning to graduation when Ginny moved to Boston with Linda. Shared with Mary and Dan the past becomes the present and the family circle widens with love and forgiveness.

Ginny met with Sharon Flynn and kicked the elephant in the room into the center of their attention with compliments about Sharon’s flaming red hair followed by a torpedo questioin from Sharon to Ginny, asking if her beautiful turquoise eyes we’re from her father or her mother? And so they began unraveling their connections. They quickly agreed to meet at the Rehab Center and talk about how to break this all to Dan.

Shortly after Ginny and Dan’s wedding, the call came to Ginny from Sharon Flynn inviting them to dinner at the Queens Pub the following Saturday. Ginny intuitively knew that Sharon knew she was her daughter and while Ginny was relieved, she was also anxious to meet her and concerned how this fact would affect Dan's sobriety.

As the three month rehab period for Dan is ending, Ginny and Dan begin to plan for their future. Their wedding in August and the invitation list brings a staggering realization to Ginny about her roots whereupon Ireland may truly become Ginny’s mother land too.
