Mitchell studies Sandra the way a biologist studies prey. He listens through her laptop microphone for days at a time, watching her type in real time through a custom-built messaging app he tricks her into installing. He knows every secret she won’t tell, every lie she thinks she hides, and every pattern of her movements—right down to when she collects mail from her PO box.
When Sandra claims she’s out partying, Mitchell is already outside her house in Aspley, stethoscope pressed to the wall, proving her lie wrong. He watches her undress through her laptop’s camera and listens to her life unravel through its microphone. She believes she’s in control. Mitchell knows she’s already his.
