  • Growing in Sanctification - Genesis 13:1-13
    Feb 2 2026

In this full sermon from Weaver Baptist Church, we walk through Genesis 13:1–13 and see how God grows His people through worship, testing, conflict, and faithful choices. After Abram’s failure in Egypt, the passage opens with grace: he returns to the land, back to the altar, calling upon the name of the Lord. But blessing and growth don’t remove pressure—they often expose what’s already in the heart. As Abram and Lot’s herds multiply, tension rises, and a decision must be made. Abram responds with humility and peace-making, while Lot chooses by sight—what looks best, what seems most profitable—setting his life in the direction of Sodom. This text helps us see:True repentance isn’t just leaving Egypt—it’s returning to worship.God’s blessings can reveal weak points in relationships and character.Peace and humility are marks of mature faith.Worldly wisdom chooses by appearance; faith chooses by promise.Every “small” decision is shaping a trajectory—toward the Lord or toward Sodom.📖 Text: Genesis 13:1–13⛪ Preached at Weaver Baptist Church🎧 Full sermon messageIf this sermon encouraged you, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who needs to be strengthened in faith and wisdom.#Genesis #Sermon #BibleExposition #Abram #Lot #ChristianLiving #WeaverBaptistChurch

  • The Christ We Proclaim: His Arrival
    Dec 16 2025

During Christmas, most people know a version of the nativity story—but is it the real one that the Bible tells in Luke 2?In this message, we walk through Luke 2:1–21 and look closely at the details of Jesus’ birth in their real historical context. We trace the story from Caesar Augustus, Quirinius, and the Roman census to Herod the Great and the dating of Jesus’ birth (around 5–6 BC), and we confront some of the most common Christmas myths—including the idea that Constantine invented Christmas on December 25 to replace pagan holidays.Along the way, we explore:Why Luke opens his Gospel as a careful historian, not an eyewitnessHow the census under Caesar Augustus anchors Jesus’ birth in real historyWhat we actually know about Quirinius, the census, and the timing of Jesus’ birthWhy the popular picture of a frantic, last-minute trip to Bethlehem doesn’t match Luke’s accountWhat the Bible really means by “no room in the inn” and why “guest room” is often a better translationHow typical first-century homes in Bethlehem explain Jesus being laid in a mangerWhy Jesus’ birth is both utterly ordinary (a poor carpenter’s son) and completely extraordinary (the eternal Son of God taking on flesh)What the angels actually proclaim: “peace on earth among those with whom He is pleased”Why we celebrate Christmas not just for the birth, but for the whole gospel story—Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrectionThis sermon aims to clear away the sentimental but inaccurate popular Christmas story and help you see the biblical nativity with fresh eyes. Jesus comes in humility, at just the right time in history, as the firstborn Son, the promised Savior, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.Use this season to go back to the text itself. Read Luke 2 with your family, your kids, your friends. Talk about what really happened. Let the true Christmas story lead you deeper into the gospel, into repentance, faith, and worship of Christ. If this teaching helps you better understand the real meaning of Christmas, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who needs to hear the good news.#Christmas #ChristmasSermon #Luke2 #RealChristmasStory #Gospel #BibleTeaching #ChurchHistory #Incarnation #JesusBirth #ReasonForTheSeason

  • The Road to Abraham - Grace Preserved Through Generations | Genesis 11:10-32
    Dec 8 2025

In this sermon from Weaver Baptist Church, Pastor Daniel Kurtz walks through Genesis 11:10–32, the genealogy from Shem to Abram, and shows why a “list of names” is actually a powerful display of God’s faithfulness, covenant promises, and providential care.

Far from being filler, this genealogy connects Adam → Noah → Shem → Abram, anchoring the story of the Bible in real history and real people. Along the way, we wrestle with honest questions like:

    • Why did people live so long before the flood—and why do their ages drop afterward?

    • What do we do when Scripture doesn’t give us a clear answer?

    • How does this line of names point us to Jesus Christ, the true Son of Abraham?

Pastor Daniel reflects on Deuteronomy 29:29 (“the secret things belong to the Lord”) and reminds us that where Scripture is silent, we must hold our conclusions lightly and trust what God has clearly revealed. This passage also highlights the ongoing reality of sin and death (Romans 6:23) and yet, at the same time, the unbreakable promise of a coming Savior from the seed of the woman, through Abraham, fulfilled in Christ.

You’ll also see how Genesis 1–11 works as a covenantal storyline—from Adam, to Noah, to Abraham—setting the stage for the rest of Scripture and for God’s promise that through Abraham all the families of the earth will be blessed.
