The dictionary defines the German word “Schadenfreude” as Pleasure derived from another person’s misfortune. I’m stand up comedian and writer Jen Ives, and luckily for you - that’s my whole MO.


I believe that laughing at the misfortune of those who deserve it, is a deeply cathartic and ultimately healthy part of the human experience. Also, it’s fun to be nasty sometimes. It doesn’t happen a lot, but sometimes bad people get what’s coming to them - and if you’re not taking pleasure in their downfall, then you’re missing out.
