Welcome to Rolling Rural: A Podcast from the Illinois Rural Transit Assistance Center. We are part of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University. This podcast is made possible with funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation. We tell the stories of the people behind rural transit, featuring interviews with leaders and frontline professionals working to connect communities across rural Illinois. Our guest today, Ron Gorst, serves as the Operations Director of Shawnee Mass Transit District. Ron has been with Shawnee Mass Transit District since 2019, starting in the role of Public Relations Coordinator. Ron also serves on the Advisory Council of the Rural Transit Assistance Center. The statewide paratransit bus roadeo is a labor of love for Ron, who is deeply involved in its implementation.
