It is spring. With trees blooming and the chorus of birds returning after a winter slumber. Also in the air is the smell of steam and smoke, along with the thunderous exhaust of new Norfolk and Western Steam Locomotives. We are about to hear these N&W monsters as they tackle Christiansburg Mountain west of Roanoke towards Bluefield, VA. We will hear freight trains and passenger trains pulled by the famed engines such as Y Class 2-8-8-2s, A Class 2-6-6-4s, and J Class 4-8-4s. It's an episode you won't want to miss.

We'll hear the first piece of action regarding steam-powered coal trains in and out of Williamson since May 1960. This marks the end of the steam era in America with N&W Y6b #2190. Now, picture a revival of that scene this winter. Whether on branch lines or the main line, all the action is here for yourenjoyment. Christmas time is here! And so is the fifth NW RS Episode! We are hosting a Christmas Spectacular operation between Bristol, VA, and Roanoke via Radford. The Bristol line is well known to rail fans, as one of the towns along it holds a special place in history. On Christmas Eve 1957, O. Winston Link captured the most famous steam train sound recording ever in Rural Retreat, VA. As an honor, we will focus our Christmas operation on this line. We will hear freight trains and passenger trains from end to end. We will also ride a couple of passenger trains. And as a special bonus, we will return to the Grundy Branch to hear M 4-8-0s on Christmas Eve. This will be a steam-powered Christmas present that you'll treasure for years to come.
