Dave Genn has been in countless bands, was the cornerstone of the greatest hits of the Mathew Good Band from 1995-2001, and a long-time lead with the great Canadian 54-40 from 2003 to present. His best known works, however, are with the coastal band Dead Surf Kiss (DSK), aptly named for the punk, hard rock vibes thrown out from influences by the Dead, Surf music, and some unknown band KISS, that I couldn’t find anything about. This Multiple Juno Award Winner has Contributed a Score for the National Geographic documentary Yukonna in 1998, as well as A 3-time Leo Award Nominee. A rare Diamond status album alumn, our very special guest today has swam in the waters and sailed among some of the most successful rock artists to ever come out of this country. Leaving the band officially in 2001, he went on to have continued success with Crash Karma, the Canadian supergroup featuring Jeff Burrows from The Tea Party, Edwin from I Mother Earth, and Amir Epstein from the infectiously groovy indie Toronto band Zygote (one of my personal favourites), and now at the helm of Flying Squirrel Motorcycles in Toronto.
