This week on The Deep Shore—Roaring.
This poem came from Roaring Beach on turrakana/tasman peninsula. It was so windy that day I couldn't stay down by the water for long and so I found a warm nook in the sand dunes to tuck myself away from the strong easterly. I wrote this poem after waking up from a deep afternoon nap nestled into the safety of this place. It's one of those poems that seemed to rise up from the land already formed, written in collaboration with all the woven elements in a creative relationship.
In the background, is a recording of the mighty winds here and the ever-ongoing waves at roaring beach.
Words by Helena Turner.
Music by Cat Bednarski and wind and ocean.
