Overthinking ≈ Paralysis by Analysis • If you’re an over thinker like myself, it’s easy to fall into this trap coined “Analysis Paralysis”
This was a concept actually brought to my attention by my LB whose a psychology graduate and it peaked my interest to delve deeper into. As I reflected over my own journey and process i thought about all the times that my own negative self thinking, fear of failure or perfectionism halted me even taking any action on an idea/goal I had.
It made me realize how important it is to be consciously aware of the power the thoughts in our mind can have on our actions. The concept of ‘Analysis Paralysis’ simplifies this phenomenon. It’s literally over-thinking manifested into inaction. It’s not an easy battle to overcome, but the first step is being conscious of your thought patterns and more aware of the power of taking action IMMEDIATELY rather than procrastinating into idle mode.
Once idle mode takes over, you’ve left far to much room to consider the negative, and may lose the power of motivation that shows you the greater potential good.
