"Tag along as I quit my comfortably numb corporate job with no savings or filthy rich husband, just to prove that we don't have to follow the common fearmongering."

Carmen Bertlin, previous host of The Single Best podcast dared to resign despite the common advice that you should have a 3 month salary backup before cutting the cord. She needs to generate at least £3k every month just to maintain her current lifestyle, and she set up a limited company to take matters in her own hands.

Is it delusional to think that she can replace her corporate salary in her first year of starting a new business? Her aim is to double it, so she can get out of debt as well.

Buckle up. There might be some turbulence.

  • EP 5: Now what?
    Jan 28 2026

Nearly half of women (49%) do not have an emergency fund. Do we understand the importance of creating financial independence for ourselves? Crucial. So I keep going.

My boyfriend asked me the other night if I was worried about money. I said no. It is the truth. I used to have paralysing fear of going broke. To the point of continuous self-sabotage. Jan 24 2026

So what if you have momentum and you feel like you are starting to make a sizable dent. Quitting your 9-5 work was worth it, because you are being productive with the time you have been given.

And then you get the phone call. Something has happened. Something that forces you to take a moment to pause the progress. And it’s significant enough to justify it...

The phone call I received on the 22nd of January was expected, but forced me to put down everything and stop.

  • EP 3: What a shitshow
    Jan 13 2026

Today didn't go according to plan. And yes, I cried. But tomorrow I get to choose; do I want to be the shop that hangs up a sign on the door that says closed when there’s a power cut, or am I the shop that lights candles and keeps the doors open because the public will still need goods.

I want to be the latter!
