  • Episode 245: 4th Annual Mostly Horror Spook'em Scare'em Awards!
    Jan 1 2026

We’re starting 2026 the Mostly Horror way!! Talking horror with friends and arguing about what scared us the most.

For our first episode of the new year, we’re joined once again by Mike Scollins, writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers and a longtime friend of the show. Mike’s been on with us plenty of times before, from general horror hangouts, to breaking down Scream 6, to helping us celebrate past Spook’em Scare’em Awards, and now he’s back to do it again.

This isn’t a traditional awards show. There’s no voting, no winners, and no attempt at consensus. It’s just us looking back at the horror movies of 2025 and calling out what really stuck with us. The best deaths, the scariest moments, the most memorable monsters, standout international horror, and more. We don’t always agree, and that’s kind of the point.

If you’re catching up on what horror delivered in 2025, or you just want to hear three people who love the genre dig into what worked and what didn’t, then this one’s for you.

So HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Make some of your resolutions to tell a friend about the show, watch more horror, and…

    COME HANG OUT!!!

  • Episode 243: No Guest, No Problem: A Mostly Horror Check In
    Dec 18 2025

With the holiday season in full swing and schedules getting messy, this week’s Mostly Horror episode came together a little differently. With no guest and a last minute pivot, Sean and Steve sit down to talk through what’s been happening across the horror landscape lately.

The episode kicks off with a rundown of recent news, from the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer to updates on the ever evolving world of M3GAN, plus talk of a new Steven Spielberg alien film that has everyone speculating. As always, the conversation drifts, digs in, and follows the threads wherever they lead.

We wrap things up with our Mostly Horror Recommendations of the Week, sharing what we’ve been watching and thinking about lately and what might be worth your time next.

A shorter episode than usual, but a nice little check in as 2025 gasps its final breaths sooo...

    Dec 11 2025

This week on Mostly Horror, we are absolutely honored to be joined by the writer of Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Addams Family, Corpse Bride, Homeward Bound, The Secret Garden, Black Beauty and more... Caroline Thompson.

Caroline is one of the quiet architects of our childhoods, a storyteller whose work shaped entire generations without ever being given or demanding the spotlight. In this conversation, she opens up about discovering her voice, meeting Tim Burton, crafting characters inspired by her animals, and the real Hollywood stories behind some of the most iconic films ever made.

It’s nostalgic, emotional, funny, and full of the kind of craft and career wisdom that only Caroline can give. If these movies meant anything to you growing up then this episode will feel like coming home...

    Dec 4 2025

This week on Mostly Horror, we’re joined by the absolute legend: Matthew Lillard. From Scream to Thirteen Ghosts, Scooby-Doo, and now the ever-expanding Five Nights at Freddy’s universe, Lillard has carved out one of the most beloved and eclectic careers in genre cinema. We also get into his lifelong love of Dungeons & Dragons, his work with Beadle & Grimm’s and Quest’s End whiskey, and why tabletop storytelling continues to shape the way he approaches his craft and his life.

  • Episode 239: Mother Eating, Cults, Queens and the Grotesque with Author Jess Hagemann
    Nov 20 2025

This week on Mostly Horror, Steve and Sean sit down with author Jess Hagemann; the brilliantly twisted mind behind Mother Eating and Headcheese.

Jess joins the boys for a wild, spoiler free conversation about transgressive fiction, cult psychology, why Marie Antoinette’s legacy is more complex than you've heard, and how the grotesque can be used to explore power, femininity, and body autonomy in bold new ways. It’s funny, it’s weird, it’s thoughtful, and Jess is an absolute blast to talk to.

Before the interview, the guys dive into the latest horror news, and after, they close things out with this week’s Mostly Horror Recs. If you’re into unflinching horror that uses fiction to explore bigger truths and discovering the next author your group chat will obsess over, this episode’s for you sooo... COME HANG OUT!!!

    Nov 13 2025

    Hey Horror Fans!!!

This week on Mostly Horror, Steve and Sean sit down with filmmaker Lotfy Nathan to talk about The Carpenter’s Son — a dark and daring reimagining of Christ’s childhood that pulls from the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas. Lotfy dives into religious myth, backlash from the faithful, and what it was like directing Nicolas Cage, FKA Twigs, and Noah Jupe in one of the most argued about horror films of the year.

Before the interview, the guys dig into some horror news (including that new V for Vendetta series) and as usual wrap things up with their Mostly Horror Recs of the week.

If you’re into religious horror, controversy, and Cage going full Cage, this episode’s for you sooo...
