Gender-based violence is a pervasive issue in South Africa.
Today on the show, we bring you a real story - not about a victim, but about a survivor of Gender-Based Violence (domestic abuse).
Our Guest Melisha takes us through her brave journey of how she was able to turn her pain into power.
In this chat, we cover Melisha's story and dabble into the nuanced female experiences that are often not spoken about - we all know about physical abuse, the scars are often there to see, but about 'emotional abuse'. We learn that abuse is a spectrum and this conversation could not be any more timely as it coincides with the global campaign - 'The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign', a United Nations campaign which takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to 10 December.
