He murdered her in the bedroom next to her sleeping baby. Now that little girl carries a sign with her mum's photo at rallies to end violence against women. Her mum's name is Katie Haley. Katie was only 29. Katie was - and always will be - the beating heart of her family. Her dad Boyd and little sister Bianca join She Matters to share her story. It's a story of hidden dangers, lingering guilt, precious moments and forever memories. This episode discusses domestic violence, murder and coercive control so it is not safe for children. This is Katie's story.
This season of She Matters is supported by Verve Super, committed to women’s financial security and standing against violence in all its forms. She Matters is also proudly supported by Your One and Only.

Women in Australia retire with 23% less super than men — a real super gender gap. Our financial lives can be complex, and many of us don’t know who to turn to for support in a system not built with us in mind. That’s why Verve created a community for women, men and non-binary people who believe in closing the super gap.
