The Portland Fire finished 16-27 with a gritty 90-82 overtime win over the Golden State Valkyries, thanks to Carla Leite's clutch shooting. However, a 105-84 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, where Nneka Ogwumike reached 8,000 points, exposed defensive vulnerabilities. We analyze how injuries to Holly Winterburn, Nyadiew Puoch, and others impacted the team's 4th place division standing.

In this episode, Kelly and Gary discuss Bridget Carleton's 26 points, Emily Engstler's 11 rebounds, and Jordan Harrison's 10 assists. We evaluate whether retaining Engstler as the primary rim protector is the key to reaching 25 wins next season. We also compare Portland's depth issues against the Valkyries' balanced attack led by Veronica Burton and Gabby Williams.

The hosts debate the Fire's spacing problems and guard rotation after the three-game slide. With six players out during the Valkyries game, Portland's resilience is highlighted, but their inability to contain LA's size remains a concern. We provide predictions for the 2027 season based on current Western Conference dynamics.
