June 1998. A sweltering July night in the small Illinois town of Meridian. Luna's grandmother used to tell her about the wooden fire tower at the edge of the Foster Road woods—how the old watchman never came down, how the bell rang without wind. Twenty years later, Luna drives out there with a flashlight and a tape recorder, expecting silence. Instead, she finds the tower still standing, a single light in the cupola, and a voice that crackles over a dead radio. She climbs. What she finds inside is not a man. It's not a ghost either. It's something that has been waiting for someone to listen. A story about obsession, the things we transmit into the dark, and the frequencies that listen back.
