Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Grimball has built a respected reputation as a literary advocate, professional book reviewer, library specialist, podcast host, and supporter of diverse storytellers.With a special passion for African American literature, independent authors, and underrepresented voices, Patrice has become a trusted bridge between writers and readers. Her work is rooted in purpose: celebrating stories that deserve to be seen, heard, discussed, and remembered.A Literary Advocate with Deep Community RootsPatrice Grimball has dedicated more than 18 years of service to the Charleston County Public Library system. She currently serves in Adult Services at the Cynthia Graham Hurd/St. Andrews Library branch, where her day-to-day work includes reader’s advisory, community programming, and helping patrons discover books that speak to their lives and interests.Her connection to the branch is deeply personal. The library was renamed in honor of Cynthia Graham Hurd, Patrice’s late mentor and best friend, who tragically lost her life in the 2015 Emanuel AME Church shooting. Cynthia took Patrice under her wing early in her library career, leaving behind a legacy of service, literacy, and compassion that continues to inspire Patrice’s work today.Through her role at the library, Patrice does more than recommend books. She opens doors.
