  • 3/2 Georgia Weather 6 AM: 48° Above Normal
    Mar 2 2026
Good morning. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Fifty five degrees and clear skies right now. Feels pretty nice, right? Don't get too comfortable. A sneaky cold front is sliding in from the northeast this morning. and it's about to change the game. In the next 24 hours. This is what meteorologists call a wedge pattern. Picture cool air spilling down the eastern seaboard like water pouring over a ledge. It hits the Appalachian Mountains and gets trapped. That wedge of cooler air settles right over Georgia, keeping temperatures in check all day. Metro Atlanta tops out around 64 degrees under partly sunny skies. East winds pick up this afternoon, gusting to 20 miles an hour. Enough to mess with your hair, not enough to ruin your day. Tonight drops to 48 under clouds. Slide east and you'll find 65 degrees with more sunshine. Lows near 51. Now the coast is a different story this morning. Dense fog is hugging the shoreline. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less through 9 A.M. Once that burns off, sunshine takes over and you'll hit 68 degrees. Not bad at all. Folks, one important note. Johnson. Wilkinson. and Washington Counties have a flood warning through Tuesday morning. The Oconee River is cresting near 18.7 feet. If you're near that floodplain, stay alert. Now the week ahead gets interesting. Tuesday the wedge loosens its grip. Temperatures nudge up slightly. Then Wednesday. The lid comes off. Southerly flow kicks in and highs surge into the upper 70s. By Friday and Saturday, parts of Georgia could touch the mid 80s. That's 48 degrees to 48 degrees above normal for early March. Rain chances build Thursday into the weekend as Gulf moisture rolls in. I'll be tracking that warmth and those rain chances all week. Charge your phone, check on the garden. and maybe dust off the shorts. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • 3/1 Georgia Weather 6 PM: Flood Warning
    Mar 1 2026
Good evening. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, if you stepped outside today and thought. Spring is here? I don't blame you. Seventy six degrees and sunshine will do that to a person. but Georgia's got a trick up its sleeve tonight. In the next 24 hours., A backdoor cold front is sliding in from the northeast. High pressure over New England is pushing cool air down the Eastern Seaboard, wedging it right against the Appalachians. If you've lived here long enough, you know this move. It's called a CAD wedge. and it's about to knock nearly 49 degrees off your Monday. Right now, metro Atlanta is basking at 76 degrees. Enjoy that warmth on your evening walk, because clouds thicken overnight. Lows drop to 52. Monday? Partly sunny but a completely different feel. Highs only reach 63 degrees with gusty east winds pushing 25 miles an hour. That wind will make it feel even cooler. Over in Augusta, you grabbed the warm crown today at 77 degrees. Tonight settles to 49 under partly cloudy skies. Monday eases back to 62. Down along the coast. Savannah enjoyed 72 degrees of sunshine. Watch for fog rolling in after 9 P.M. Tonight. Lows near 50. Monday brings 65 degrees with those northeast gusts. Quick note on flooding. The Oconee River near Oconee still has a Flood Warning through Tuesday morning. Minor flooding is ongoing in Johnson. Washington. and Wilkinson Counties. Stay clear of those low water crossings. Now the week ahead tells an interesting story. Monday and Tuesday, that cool wedge hangs on. Cloudy, cooler, stubborn. Then Wednesday. The dam breaks. Temperatures surge back into the upper 70s. Thursday through Saturday we're flirting with low 80s, but rain chances climb with them. Showers and thunderstorms become likely by next weekend. One bright spot? We're gaining over two minutes of daylight every single day now. Spring equinox is just 19 days out. Charge your phone, set out a lighter jacket for the morning commute. You'll need it. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
