Hailing from the land of the Assyrians and raised in a heathen environment, this compiler journeyed in search of knowledge before settling in Rome. There, he became a disciple of Justin Martyr, embraced Christianity, and produced significant writings, including his Address to the Greeks. However, after Justins passing, he returned to Mesopotamia, where he likely composed his most influential work, the Diatessaron, which resonated deeply with the Syrian church. Yet, among Greek scholars, he was increasingly viewed as a heretic, marked by asceticism and Gnosticism.
