I created this song to comfort friends who recently lost a loved one to the curse of sin, which is death. We are not hopeless when we remain in Christ. Though our bodies fade and death comes to us we have a blessed hope in the resurrection. We need not fear death for we believe in God who laid His own life and took it up again to break the curse of sin that He may give us eternal life.
“Resting in Jesus Until the Morning”
By Zeres Vitto
Verse 1 – The Curse and the Promise
From Eden’s fall the shadow came,
A broken world, a dying flame.
The wage of sin, the curse we bore,
Dust to dust, to live no more.
Yet mercy spoke before the grave,
A promised Seed, a life to save.
God stepped in love, the plan was sealed,
A coming Christ, the curse repealed.
Pre-Chorus
Though death reigned strong through Adam’s door,
Hope was sworn forevermore.
Chorus
Death is not the end we see,
It is rest from pain and misery.
Those who sleep in Jesus’ care
Will wake to life when He appears.
This flesh may fade, this body die,
But clothed in light we soon shall rise.
O blessed hope, so sure, so true—
We rest in death, then rise in You.
Verse 2 – Christ Enters Our Suffering
He walked our paths, He felt our tears,
He bore our griefs, our wounds, our fears.
At Lazarus’ tomb His heart was torn,
The Life Himself for death did mourn.
Though knowing well the grave would break,
He wept for love’s own bitter ache.
The Man of Sorrows stood in place
And tasted death for all our race.
Pre-Chorus
He shared our pain, our mortal breath,
To conquer sin, to conquer death.
Chorus
Death is not the end we see,
It is rest from pain and misery.
Those who sleep in Jesus’ care
Will wake to life when He appears.
This flesh may fade, this body die,
But clothed in light we soon shall rise.
O blessed hope, so sure, so true—
We rest in death, then rise in You.
Verse 3 – The Tomb and the Victory
He laid His life down freely given,
The spotless Lamb, the gift of heaven.
The grave received His silent frame,
The Prince of Life in death’s domain.
No borrowed sleep, no passing breath—
He truly entered human death.
Yet by His power, His word, His right,
He took it up and rose in might.
Bridge – The Resurrection Hope
The trumpet sounds, the skies unfold,
The graves release their faithful hold.
The dead in Christ shall rise first then,
Immortal life where death has been.
And we who live, if faithful found,
Will meet our Lord in the sky unbound.
And we shall appear with Him in glory.
Final Chorus – Reunion Morning
Death is but a peaceful sleep
For those the Shepherd’s arms shall keep.
From every age, from every land,
He calls His own by name to stand.
We’ll see again the ones we’ve lost,
Redeemed forever by His cost.
O blessed hope, reunion day—
When tears and graves are swept away.
Outro
So let us stand, remain sincere,
Faithful in hope, not bound by fear.
For when He comes with angels bright,
We rise—or meet Him—in His light.
Until that morn, our hearts confess:
We rest in hope until that morn.
