Structured family therapy aims to affirm the individual within the outline of the group, while helping to challenge the system as a whole. Family members might play specific or different roles within the group, so it can be vital to understand who is engaged and who is disengaged within the familial unit. Sometimes we need to establish healthy boundaries with out family, whether it is limits we may need set when we need space, as well as being a threshold we cross when we need to return to home.
