HEAR Journaling - Exodus 40 Highlight – Exodus 40:12-16 New Living Translation 12 “Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting and wash them with water. 13 You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. 14 And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. 15 You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.” 16 Thus Moses did; according to all that the Lord had commanded him, so he did. Explain – God gave Moses instructions to assemble the Tabernacle per God’s specifications. Moses was instructed to bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tabernacle, wash them with water, put on Aaron’s holy garments and anoint and consecrate him. Then they were to clothe Aaron’s sons and anoint them as they did Aaron. Aaron and his descendants were appointed as the everlasting priesthood. Apply – We too must be prepared for God’s work. We present ourselves to Jesus, sinners needing cleansing. We are cleaned by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that wipes away our sin. We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who provides continual anointing and consecration to the worship and work that God calls us to do. We follow Him faithfully and obediently forever always for an everlasting relationship with Him. Romans 12:1-2 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. 1 Peter 3:15 ESV But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, Luke 21:36 ESV But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” John 16:33 ESV I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Matthew 24:44 ESV Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 2 Timothy 2:15 ESV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. Respond – Lord, thank You for Your salvation. Help me to be fully prepared for the tasks that You would have for me. Thank You for this opportunity to partner with You in the works that You have called for me. I look so forward to each day and what You will lead me to accomplish. Help me to be effective in the plan You have for my life. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. I pray that anyone that does not know You will come to a saving revelation and relationship with You, Amen. HEAR Journaling - Exodus 39 Highlight – Exodus 39:32, 49 New Living Translation The Work Completed 32 Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished. And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did. …42 According to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did all the work. 43 Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them. Explain – The Tabernacle components were all completed per the specifications that God had directed through Moses. The completed the work through the resources and giftings provided by the Lord. The people were willing, available, and diligent to complete the work. Ecclesiastes 9:10 ESV Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going. Colossians 3:23 ESV Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, Respond – Lord, thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. Thank You for this opportunity to partner with You in the works that You have called for me. I look so forward to each day and what You will lead me to accomplish. HEAR Journaling - Exodus 38 Highlight – Exodus 38:21-25 New Living Translation Inventory of Materials 21 This is an inventory of the materials used in building the Tabernacle of the Covenant.[h] The Levites compiled the figures, as Moses directed, and Ithamar son of Aaron the priest served as recorder. 22 Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything just as the Lord had commanded Moses. 23 He was assisted by Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, a craftsman expert at engraving, designing, and embroidering with blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth. 24 The people brought special offerings of gold totaling 2,193 pounds,[i] as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. This gold was used throughout the Tabernacle. 25 The whole community of Israel gave 7,545 pounds[j] of silver, as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. Explain – Exodus 38 records the inventory of materials that were used in the construction of the Tabernacle. Look at the detail and the vast array of materials that were required to build the Tabernacle to God’s specifications. Look at the people who were involved in the in the construction of the Tabernacle. Every person from every family from every tribe contributed in some way toward the construction of the Tabernacle. This expert construction was accomplished by people that had come out of the bondage of Egypt and had physically moved all these materials from Egypt. God’s anointing was over His people to accomplish this marvelous work. Apply – God has amazing and wonderful plans for each of us as well. God does give us our free will to choose which path we will follow. You can doubt and resist Him to accomplish little, or you can place your faith in the Lord, follow Him faithfully and obediently to experience a life that you could not imagine, a life of abundance and joy only possible through a relationship with Him. Joshua 24:15 ESV And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:11 ESV For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Deuteronomy 8:18 ESV You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 2 Timothy 3:17 ESV That the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Philippians 4:13 ESV Psalm 1:1-3 ESV Proverbs 16:3 ESV Hebrews 10:36 ESV 1 Kings 2:3 ESV 1 John 2:27 ESV Respond – Lord, thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. Thank You for this opportunity to live with You and in You. I look so forward to each day and what You will lead me to accomplish. Help me to be effective in the plan You have for my life. He made the entire lampstand and its decorations of one piece—the base, center stem, lamp cups, buds, and petals. … 25 Then Bezalel made the incense altar of acacia wood. It was 18 inches square and 36 inches high,[g] with horns at the corners carved from the same piece of wood as the altar itself. … 29 Then he made the sacred anointing oil and the fragrant incense, using the techniques of a skilled incense maker. Explain – Bezalel was the master craftsman anointed by God, filled with the Holy Spirit, to complete the expert construction of the Ark, Table, Lampstand, Incense Altar, and the Sacred anointing oil and fragrant incense. HEAR Journaling - Exodus 36

Highlight – Exodus 36:6-7 New Living Translation

6 So Moses gave the command, and this message was sent throughout the camp: “Men and women, don’t prepare any more gifts for the sanctuary. We have enough!” So the people stopped bringing their sacred offerings. 7 Their contributions were more than enough to complete the whole project.

Explain – The people of Israel provided all of the materials that was required to build the Tabernacle.

Apply – We too should be cheerful givers of our time and resources in the service of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 9:7 ESV Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Luke 6:38 ESV Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Acts 20:35 ESV In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

2 Corinthians 9:6 ESV The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Malachi 3:10 ESV Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Proverbs 3:27 ESV Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

2 Corinthians 9:10-12 ESV 10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

Respond – Lord, thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. Help me to be an effective giver of my time, talents, and resources for Your glory. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. I pray that anyone that does not know You will come to a saving revelation and relationship with You, Amen.

HEAR Journaling - Exodus 35 Highlight – Exodus 35:20-22,29 New Living Translation 20 So the whole community of Israel left Moses and returned to their tents. 21 All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle,[a] for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments. 22 Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. They brought to the Lord their offerings of gold—brooches, earrings, rings from their fingers, and necklaces. They presented gold objects of every kind as a special offering to the Lord. …29 So the people of Israel—every man and woman who was eager to help in the work the Lord had given them through Moses—brought their gifts and gave them freely to the Lord. Explain – God asked His people to sacrifice and bring the plunder that they had taken from Egypt to build the Tabernacle and all that would be in it. The craftsmen, both men and women, were given skills to produce the items to be used in the Tabernacle. They gave of their time and resources freely. Apply – God doesn’t need our help but graciously includes us in His plans to accomplish more than we could have ever imagined. Remember, the Israelites were traveling across the wilderness, yet they had all the materials, tools, and expertise to construct the massive Tabernacle and everything in it through the power of God. We should not doubt God or hold back sharing the time, resources, and giftings that the Lord has given us to accomplish the tasks that He has directed us to do. Jeremiah 1:5 ESV “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 2 Peter 1:10-11 ESV Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 1:9 ESV Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, Acts 2:38-39 ESV And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 1 Corinthians 7:17 ESV Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. James 2:5 ESV John 15:16 ESV Respond – Lord, thank You for saving me. Thank You Lord for the calling You have given me along with the skills and power to effectively complete the tasks that You set before me. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. Help me Lord to be effective in all You have me do. HEAR Journaling - Exodus 34 Highlight – Exodus 34:28-30 New Living Translation 28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord[h] wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments[i]—on the stone tablets. 29 When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant,[j]he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. 30 So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him. Explain – The people of Israel were afraid to approach Moses because his face had become radiant from speaking with the Lord. Apply – We too can profit much by communicating with the Lord. We can benefit ourselves as well as others as the Lord can give us instructions or words of comfort for others. Others may perceive the love of the Lord in us as we have been in the presence of the Lord. Psalm 73:28 ESV But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. 1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? Psalm 27:8 ESV You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” Romans 10:17 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Zephaniah 3:17 ESV The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. James 5:16 ESV Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 1 Timothy 2:8 ESV I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV Pray without ceasing, Hebrews 7:25 ESV Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Jeremiah 29:13 ESV You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. James 4:8 ESV Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Psalm 27:4 ESV One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. Respond – Lord, thank You for saving me. Thank You Lord for Your love and compassion. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. Help me Lord to pray to You effectively. HEAR Journaling - Exodus 33

Highlight – Exodus 33:8-11,20 New Living Translation

8 Whenever Moses went out to the Tent of Meeting, all the people would get up and stand in the entrances of their own tents. They would all watch Moses until he disappeared inside. 9 As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10 When the people saw the cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, they would stand and bow down in front of their own tents. 11 Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.

20 But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.”

Explain – Moses would meet with God at the Tent of Meeting. The pilar of cloud would stand at the entrance while Moses met with God “face to face”, speaking as one to a friend. This seems to contract verse 20 that says no one may look upon God’s face and live. This is not a contradiction, the reference to speaking “face to face” simply means that God and Moses had a conversation, not that Moses actually looked upon God’s face.

Apply – We are blessed that we too can have a one-on-one conversation, a living relationship with the Lord God. The Lord will communicate in any manner that He wishes, for me it is most often direct mind to mind communication, instantaneous thought from God. What a blessing it is to communicate with my Lord God Creator. You can speak with Him too, seek Him.

Romans 8:26 ESV Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Matthew 11:28 ESV Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 145:18-19 ESV The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.

Hebrews 4:16 ESV Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Matthew 7:7 ESV “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Ephesians 6:18 ESV Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

    Matthew 6:6 ESV

    2 Timothy 2:15 ESV

    Galatians 2:20 ESV

Respond – Lord, thank You for this wonderful relationship that I share with You. I strive to follow You faithfully and obediently, always forever. Help me Lord to pray to You effectively. I pray that anyone that does not know You will come to a saving revelation and relationship with You, Amen.
