The Orthodox Church confesses, with awe and reverence, the great mysteries at the very heart of Christian faith: the creation of the world by the Triune God, and the Incarnation of the Logos, the Word of God, the Son of God, for the salvation of mankind. Both of these events (the creation of Adam and the coming of Christ) are central and closely connected in Orthodox theology. The first Adam, made from the earth and created in God’s image and likeness, represents both the ideal and the downfall of humanity. His fall from grace brought about a deep separation in creation. The Second Adam, Jesus Christ, enters history not just to fix what was broken, but to begin something entirely new. He doesn’t just restore what was lost: He transforms and surpasses it, launching a new creation. This is the first video from the series on God's Providence.
