  • PODCAST: Episode 1003 - Don of the Dead (Nunslaughter) on "Satanic Chaos Legions" and BLKIIBLK Records
    Jul 8 2026

Wil Cifer caught up with Don of the Dead, founding vocalist, bassist, and sole original member of American Devil Metal legends Nunslaughter, to discuss the band's sixth full-length album Satanic Chaos Legions, released June 26, 2026, through BLKIIBLK Records. Don breaks down the band's debut on BLKIIBLK, what went into breaking a five-year full-length silence since 2021's Red Is the Color of Ripping Death, and how Satanic Chaos Legions continues the band's uncompromising blend of first-wave black metal, old-school death metal, thrash, and raw punk rock.

Formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1987 and later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, Nunslaughter have spent nearly four decades building one of underground metal's most fiercely uncompromising legacies. Don of the Dead remains the band's sole original member and creative anchor. Satanic Chaos Legions is available now across multiple physical formats, including limited-edition three-color twelve-inch vinyl configurations through BLKIIBLK Records.

  • PODCAST: Episode 1002 - Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary on "After the Astronaut," Twenty-Eight Years Later
    Jul 6 2026

GhostCultKeefy caught up with Paul Leary, co-founder and lead guitarist of the Butthole Surfers, to discuss After the Astronaut, the band's ninth studio album, released June 26, 2026, through Sunset Blvd Records. The record has one of the more remarkable backstories in alternative rock history. Originally recorded in 1998 as the intended follow-up to "Electriclarryland," the album was shelved by Capitol Records, who deemed it uncommercial. The band was subsequently forced to rework the material at Hollywood Records, which eventually became 2001's "Weird Revolution."

Decades later, the Butthole Surfers reclaimed the rights to the original recordings. Paul Leary completely remixed the tracks to present the music exactly as the band intended it back in 1998, making After the Astronaut both a long-overdue release and one of the most compelling stories in rock music in 2026.
