  • S6 Ep85: Josie Long and Jen Lamacq - Screen Time, Sanity & the Social Media Myth
    Oct 20 2025
In this episode of Funny Mummies, Hatty catches up with old friend and regular guest Josie Long — the award-winning stand-up comedian, writer, filmmaker, BBC Shortcuts creator, author, and mum of two girls. Basically, one of Hatty’s favourite humans.

They’re also joined by returning guest Dr. Jen Lamacq, child psychiatrist and educator, who helps us all feel a little better about that never-ending debate: kids and screen time.

Together, they get honest about the guilt, confusion, and myths around social media and parenting — from “10-second Instagram advice” to the pressure of constant content. Jen helps unpack what’s actually true, what’s just oversimplified nonsense, and why we can probably all stop beating ourselves up about it.

Mum Watch ; As always, you’ll also get TV Picks from your favourite TV watcher — Hatty’s sister Tracey, who does all the hard viewing so you don’t have to. Just sit back, crack open the bickies (or the Vickys ), and find out what to watch from the archives.

  • S6 Ep84: Hannah George - Writing, Babies & the Joy of a good chat
    Oct 6 2025
This week, Hatty is joined by the brilliant and award-winning Hannah George — writer, podcaster, new mum, and all-round excellent human.

You might know her from the hit podcast Drunk Women Solving Crime (yes, she’s interviewed loads of famous people — including me, thank you very much).

Hannah’s also written for everything from CBBC’s Waffle the Wonder Dog to Wolfblood, The Dumping Ground, Nickelodeon, Trolley, and loads more. Basically, she’s a legend with a long list of credits and she’s a mum.

Join them for a really warm, funny chat about:
    • The chaos of new motherhood
    • Unhelpful things people say (please stop!)
    • The Work vs. Baby juggle (especially when you’re self-employed)
    • Voice notes (just… don’t or yes Please?)
So pop the kettle on, grab a biscuit (or five), and give yourself permission to sit down for once. You’re not alone — and you don’t have to feel guilty for taking a moment to laugh, breathe, and listen.

  • S6 Ep83: Kelly Rickard - No Shouting, No Snobs
    Sep 22 2025
In this episode, Hatty Ashdown sits down with comedian, singer, and Welsh national treasure – the working-class pocket powerhouse Kelly Rickard - (Winner: Best in Class 2024., Edinburgh Festival Fringe show: Kelly Rickard: Free as a Bird).

At a time when we really need this Kelly chats about her background and the self-consciousness that can come with being working class, but why you really can’t say the wrong thing to the right person. Together, Hatty and Kelly dive into why so many mums are drawn to stand-up comedy, juggling gigs with kids, and what makes a “working-class mum” in contrast to the world of middle-class gentle parenting influences.

It turns into a big, honest, and funny conversation about class, culture, and motherhood – from the differences (and surprising similarities) between a Welsh upbringing and a Kent one, to the influence of soaps we watched as kids (when we really shouldn’t have been!).

As always, you’ll also get forgotten TV gems in Mum Watch with Hatty’s sister Tracey
