This is the podcast for pelvic health pros who are done playing small… in the clinic or in business. I’m Dr. Becky Allen, Physical Therapist, Founder, and Visionary of Genesis PT & Wellness, and your coach for what it really takes to lead a mission-driven, team-powered, game-changing pelvic health practice. Whether you're a solo clinician, scaling a team, or somewhere in between, this podcast is here to help you stop second-guessing and start leading with clarity. I will give you the frameworks and systems that no one hands you when you step into leadership, and show you how to run a sustainable business without losing your mind (or yourself) along the way. We’ll talk about real patient cases, real leadership struggles, and the kind of wins that matter: better outcomes, stronger teams, and clinics that change lives. I’m here to change the game in pelvic health, and I want you to join me. This isn’t just about pelvic floor therapy — it’s about redefining how we serve patients, lead teams, and raise the bar of pelvic health care. The best way to do that is together... because we are better together! You in?Copyright 2026 Dr. Becky Allen Hygiene & gesundes Leben
  • Stop Managing Pressure. Start Fixing It. A Better Way to Treat Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
    Feb 26 2026

Dr. Becky Allen argues that traditional pelvic floor courses teach “pressure management” the wrong way by focusing on pelvic floor squeezing, Kegels, and pelvic elevation (e.g., bridges) to manage symptoms rather than addressing why pressure symptoms occur. Using a tube-of-toothpaste analogy, she explains that tightening the “lid” (pelvic floor contractions) doesn’t fix excessive downward pressure and may fail if the force is high enough. She presents a framework based on the formula Pressure = Force/Area, emphasizing that to reduce pressure clinicians should decrease force and/or increase the area the force acts upon. She outlines three ways to decrease force: reduce the load (only when appropriate for healing timelines or injury), displace/distribute force by creating more space above the pelvis via rib cage and thorax expansion, and improve force transfer and absorption through the ground-up kinetic chain (midfoot pronation/supination control, ankle dorsiflexion, tibial/femoral internal rotation, and controlled internal rotation throughout). For increasing area, she describes that many patients have a shortened pelvic floor (often posteriorly) and need pelvic floor lengthening—especially under load—which requires pelvic and kinetic-chain internal rotation. She encourages shifting from symptom management to pressure manipulation for lasting resolution and promotes her course waitlist opening February 23rd, which teaches this full framework with modules (foot, ankle, pelvis biomechanics, rib cage/thorax), 70+ exercise videos, and manual therapy techniques.

  • Pelvic Floor Tension vs Weakness: Why This Model Is Failing Your Patients
    Feb 19 2026

Dr. Becky challenges the common pelvic floor therapy model that sorts patients into “weak/lengthened” versus “tight/tense/shortened” buckets, arguing these are symptoms rather than meaningful diagnoses or root causes. She explains how this binary approach can keep patients stuck with partial improvements or lifelong symptom-management tools and notes that tightness and weakness can coexist. The episode critiques relying on Kegels—both in traditional strengthening plans and in the “kill the Kegels” movement—stating Kegels don’t train automatic, functional pelvic floor behavior during real-life tasks. Using examples like stress incontinence and dyspareunia, the host emphasizes asking why the pelvic floor is compensating and recommends “getting out of the pelvis” to assess broader drivers such as pressure management from the rib cage/abdomen, pelvis biomechanics, foot/ankle function and the kinetic chain, nervous system/limbic influences, gut issues, and habits, posture, loads, and training. Dr. Becky introduces the ROOT acronym: remember to find the Root cause; Observe the patient’s story, symptoms, goals, and functional movement; Optimize the identified system limitation to restore automatic pelvic floor function; and Transform by building capacity and resilience through functional movement and loading. She encourages clinicians to pick a patient and identify the system driver behind pelvic floor tension or weakness, and promotes the No Kegels course opening to the waitlist on February 23rd.

  • Stop Treating Pelvic Floor Symptoms... Treat the System
    Feb 12 2026

In this episode of From the Ground Up, host Becky welcomes Dr. Allison Heffron, a rehab-based chiropractor and acupuncturist with over 12 years of experience, to discuss her unique approach to patient care. Dr. Heffron shares her journey through personal and professional challenges, including a significant turning point in 2022 when she shattered her ankle during a roller derby. This injury shifted her perspective, making her both a clinician and a patient. The conversation dives deep into the importance of treating the body as a system rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, which has shaped Dr. Heffron’s approach to integrating biomechanics, performance, and mindset in rehabilitation. They discuss the importance of communication, empathy, and the mental hurdles faced by both patients and clinicians in their journeys towards recovery. Dr. Heffron also shares how her recent breakthroughs have inspired new directions in her practice, including the development of an online program aimed at helping people regain their strength and athleticism. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the intersection of movement, performance, and holistic patient care.
