  • Four Last Things: Heaven
    Dec 22 2025

Okay it’s not November anymore, but we’re still committed to our four-part series on what November usually provokes: our reflection on the four last things of death, judgment, heaven, and hell. Join FAD&DAD in this mini-series as we discuss our way through them. In part three, we reflect on what all mankind was made for: a new heavens and a new earth.

And yes, it took three seasons for FAD to realize we had a Facebook account. Welcome to the media world of FAD&DAD, FAD.

In the show, Josh mentions two sources for the show notes:

    * A Conversation Between Twins in a Womb, and

    * The Fire of Holiness: God’s Burning Presence in Salvation History by Dr. John Bergsma (ABS 2023)

    Enjoy!

  • Virtues Gone Mad
    Oct 15 2025

We all know what happens when vices are let loose, but what about the virtues? Join FAD&DAD in an exploration of the provoking mind of GK Chesterton.

Here is the full quote from GK Chesterton’s Orthodoxy (Ch. 3):

The modern world is not evil; in some ways the modern world is far too good. It is full of wild and wasted virtues. When a religious scheme is shattered (as Christianity was shattered at the Reformation), it is not merely the vices that are let loose. The vices are, indeed, let loose, and they wander and do damage. But the virtues are let loose also; and the virtues wander more wildly, and the virtues do more terrible damage. The modern world is full of the old Christian virtues gone mad. The virtues have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone. Thus some scientists care for truth; and their truth is pitiless. Thus some humanitarians only care for pity; and their pity (I am sorry to say) is often untruthful.

  • The Problem of Evil
    Sep 2 2025

Like most of you, we watched the tragic news from Annunciation Parish unfold on the morning of Wednesday, August 27.

While on one hand we all watched the lives of many school and parish families change in an instant, we also watched as many reactions, opinions, and commentaries were revealed over the following days.

The events of August 27 at Annunciation Catholic Parish and School witness to a larger, much more difficult reality that each of us is forced to face: the problem of evil and fallen humanity. What are we to make of such things? How should we respond when we do encounter them?

In this episode, FAD&DAD offer some timely guidance on how to think of these issues, and, more importantly, where (and to Whom) to turn when they occur.

Please join us in keeping the recent victims, their families, and the Annunciation parish community in prayer.

  • Filioque, Okay?
    Aug 16 2025

As Catholics, we profess in the Nicene Creed that the Holy Spirit proceeds “from the Father and the Son”—a specific belief and clause of the creed known as the filioque.

On this episode of FAD&DAD—where our theological issues thankfully don’t surpass our technological issues—we introduce what the filioque is and discuss how and why it’s important for the everyday Catholic.

  • Jesus the New Israel
    Jun 21 2025

Bad theology often leads to difficulties—and that’s what we want to avoid. There’s a lot swirling around in American Christianity, especially, about how to think of the nation-state of Israel and how that relates to the Israel of Scripture. In this episode, FAD&DAD attempt to bring some clarity on how the New Testament teaches us to conceive of Christ, the Church, and the new Israel, and how all of this shapes how we live as citizens and members of His Kingdom.

  • Pilgrims of Hope
    Jun 16 2025

In this episode, FAD&DAD address the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope. What is Christian hope? How is hope different from faith? What makes it a virtue? Can we hope for a good episode? Maybe.

Also, as promised, Josh (aka “Dad”) wants to take you and your intentions with him on his upcoming pilgrimage to Assisi and Rome. If you would like to journey along with him and submit a prayer intention, click here.
