  • Drunk Theatre
    Aug 1 2022

Episode 5.  The Penultimate episode.  What do Drunk Shakespeare, Breaking the Bard’s Drunk Zoom production on Lysistrata, and A Drinking Game NYC have in common?  Drunk Theatre refers to shows like these, and others, which involve an element of intoxication by alcohol, in their production.  From theatre’s very origins at an Ancient Grecian drinking festival, to the writing of the Bard, to creators of the modern day, many artists have long had a love affair with alcohol— yet many frown upon the idea of it being used professionally.  Does alcohol have a place in the theatre?  This episode explores the opinions of experts and advocates, as well as what obstacles, alcohol related and otherwise, creating theatre presents for them.
