Exhibit A is an evidence-based true crime podcast where every episode begins with one object, one record, or one forensic detail—and follows it through an entire case.

A fingerprint on glass. A deleted message. A strand of hair. A receipt found miles from the crime scene.

Each piece of evidence has a history. It was discovered somewhere, handled by someone, tested, challenged, interpreted, and eventually placed before investigators, attorneys, judges, or juries. But evidence rarely speaks for itself. Its meaning depends on how it was collected, what it proves, what it cannot prove, and who is telling the story around it.

Through verified reporting, court records, forensic findings, witness testimony, and documented case materials, Exhibit Atraces one crucial piece of evidence from the moment it enters an investigation to the role it plays in the final outcome. Some evidence solves a case.

Some raises more questions than it answers.

And sometimes, one small detail changes everything.

Follow Exhibit A for investigative true crime stories focused on forensic evidence, criminal investigations, courtroom arguments, and the objects that helped shape real cases. One case. One piece of evidence. The story behind what it revealed.

  • The Diary That Confessed in Ink
    Aug 10 2026
A self-styled killer walks into a London pub, selects his victims from the regulars, and systematically murders five men over the course of two months. But Colin Ireland makes one fatal mistake — he writes it all down. A black notebook found in a homeless shelter becomes the most chilling confession in British criminal history, documenting every kill with the cold precision of a shopping list.

This is the story of the diary that confessed in ink — a handwritten record of five murders that police never linked until the killer's own words betrayed him.

  • The Interrogation Tape: The West Memphis Three
    Aug 9 2026
What happens when the most important piece of evidence in a murder case is a confession that may have been coerced from a teenager with an IQ of 72? In June 1993, Jessie Misskelley sat alone in an interrogation room for twelve hours. Only forty-six minutes were recorded. What the tape captured was not truth -- it was pressure.

In this episode, we follow the interrogation tape that convicted three teenagers of murdering three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley were sentenced to death and life in prison based on a confession that an expert called a classic example of police coercion. Eighteen years later, DNA evidence showed none of them matched the crime scene.

    CHAPTERS:
    0:00 - Introduction: The Question
1:30 - The Discovery: Three Boys in a Creek
8:00 - The Investigation: Satanic Panic and Tunnel Vision
15:00 - The Confession: Twelve Hours, Forty-Six Minutes
25:00 - The Trial: Expert Testimony and the Coercion Problem
32:00 - The Doubts: DNA, Recantations, and Lost Evidence
40:00 - The Release: An Alford Plea Is Not Justice
48:00 - The Unresolved: Who Really Did It?
53:00 - Closing: The Silence Between the Tapes

The West Memphis Three case remains one of the most controversial wrongful conviction stories in American history. The interrogation tape that started it all still exists -- a record of words spoken under pressure in a room where the tape recorder was turned off for most of the time.
