Win the Day! Kiss the Wave

Mark 4:35-41, Matthew 14, John 13, John 21

This week is called “Kiss the Wave”. Have you kissed a wave? Like a real wave in the ocean? You know you were out in the ocean messing around. You stopped paying attention orgot distracted and turned around only to be hit in the face with a huge wave. Have you had that happen to you in life. We all face obstacles throughout our lives. What has been the greatest obstacle in your life? It could have been an event that occurred, a choice that you had to make. Was it an obstacle that you did a great job of building through a series of bad choices or was it something that was beyond your control? How did you respond? God has a plan for us through each of those events.

Win the Day! God HelpMe Flip the Script

Genesis 37-50

Last week, we focused on who God desires us to be. Now, to follow that, we will be asking God to help us become the person He desires us to be. For some of us, it might begin with a need to flip the script on our lives. Maybe our lives are headed in thewrong direction. Maybe they are completely out of control. Maybe we are having a hard time letting go of the past or embracing what God has planned for us in this moment. The life of Joseph is a great example of how God can help us get through, get past, and get over difficult life circumstances.

Who do you desire to be?

We have an identity crisis. So many people don’t know who they are. All the things that used to define each of us have failed. As kids, one of the biggest questions we were asked was what do you want to be when you grow up? What if that is the wrong question? Now, there is nothing at all wrong with knowing what you want to do for a living at a young age. But is that what should define us?

Immanuel: God’s Presence in us
Immanuel, God with us. Jesus’ birth, His life, His death and His resurrection changed everything for humanity. But there was something more in store. Jesus promised something greater for those that choose to place their faith in Him. For those that choose to make Him Lord and Savior of their life. Jesus first made this promise to his closest followers. They could not understand how there could be something greater than the physical presence of Jesus with them. But He assured them and us today that something greater was on the way and is now here not just with us, but can be in us. Immanuel: God’s Presence is Here
Wow was this last week weird, from 6 inches of snow and subzero windchills to a possibility of thunderstorms and 55 degrees! This is Christmas in Indiana. All of this seemed to make the last few weeks fly by even faster. And now Christmas is almost here. The Holy Spirit of Christmas is on display throughout the world. Jesus, Immanuel, God with us has come! But why? What did He accomplish for all of us? Why does it matter so much? We are excited to share with you all of this and more on Sunday!

God’s presence in our lives helps us overcome our insecurities. God’s presence in our lives gives us courage. God’s presence in our lives brings us comfort. These are likely things that all of us have struggled with at some point in our lives. Jesus came to be with us. To help us through all of life.

Immanuel: The Presence of God…

Genesis 3:8–13, 23–24

Do you love Christmas? I am not referring to the commercialism and worldly influence of the holiday. I am talking about Christmas. The truth behind theholiday. The reality that was brought it into existence. Jesus, the Son of God, intentionally came to this Earth as a baby to save us from our sin! To reconcile, to purchase us back from death. To show us the full extent of God’s love for us! Does that stir anything within you? If for some reason it does not, then I pray that God will use the next few weeks to rekindle that fire that should be stoked every year at this time.

Thankful for the Church
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
What are you thankful for? We just had a holiday that was founded around the idea of thankfulness. But were we able to set aside some time and truly be thankful? All of us are going through different things right now. But could we all take a moment and make a list of at least a few things that we are thankful for? I could start listing things for you but what is closest to you heart? Is it people? Events? Moments? Are there specific things that come to mind? Your list could include almost anything. Your list is a result of your life experiences. Your upbringing. The choices that you have made along the way. What is on your list? We pray that this Sunday we get to share of the few of the things on our list!
