Episode 8: (P)repared continues our special Week of ALPHA series on The ALPHA Podcast.

This week, we are breaking down the full ALPHA mentality at North Greenville University: Aggressive, Loyal, Prepared, Humble, and Armored. Each daily episode focuses on one letter and one part of the standard that shapes how our program lives, trains, competes, and grows.

In this episode, Nate Garner and Jim Padgett sit down with Nate McGee, offensive lineman at North Greenville, to talk about the meaning of Prepared. Nate shares how his parents shaped his work ethic, how his mom helped prepare him for adversity through faith and trust in God, and how he trained himself before his freshman year when he could not make it to campus.

Nate talks about finding a hill and running it every morning, building his own lifting plan, improving his strength, and doing the work before anyone demanded it from him. The conversation also covers breaking his hand, fighting through injury, embracing scout team, navigating coaching changes, preparing mentally for game day, studying film, and using the clap-and-clear next-play mentality when things go wrong.

Key takeaway: Being prepared means doing the work before the moment demands it. It means building your body, mind, faith, and habits so you can respond when adversity shows up.
