In this episode, Abby is talking with Dr. Larry Wallace about “Reflections on Light and Vision." Larry and Abby discuss how and why light and vision is so much more than acuity or eyesight. Larry has been a practicing Doctor of Optometry for the last 47 years. In his journey as a practitioner and a student of vision and light, his career emphasis has been centered on the famous formula E=MC2, which says energy equals matter times the speed of light squared.
So even the smallest particle holds enormous amounts of energy. The eyes are the light-gathering organ of that energy and the substance we call seeing. This non-material electromagnetic energy of the visible spectrum penetrates our whole brain and body to create perception, information, and energy that is the foundation for our biology and consciousness and an application of light and color to treat vision problems.
