Patrick Gallagher Born and raised in the South Suburb of Flossmoor and from a family of 7, Patrick attended Purdue University for his Undergraduate degree in Organizational Communication (studied at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland the summer before his Junior year). After graduating college, he worked in Hungary doing a marketing internship for a Hungarian entrepreneur. Patrick then returned to Evanston to get a Masters of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Upon completing his studies at Northwestern University, he worked in advertising in Chicago for a year and then Dubai, UAE, for three years in the mid/late ‘90s handling the Cadillac account. Patrick then returned to Chicago to work full time with a good friend from Northwestern and Dubai days to try to launch a new magazine aimed at American expatriates. After 2 years of working tirelessly, they pulled the plug. At the crossroads, Patrick decided to commit to joining his family’s 3rd generation asphalt paving company, Gallagher Asphalt Corporation, to use his skills in order to help grow and diversify the business. After 20 years of co-ownership with his brother and cousin, Patrick decided to sell out to them at the end of 2020. Patrick was yearning to pursue a whole new frontier on my own and while he still had the “piss and vinegar” of a young, new 50 year old. Not too long after making the decision to sell, Patrick came to the realization that he wanted to acquire one of the existing wooden powerboat builders. Months later, in February 2021, he and his wife bought Grand Craft Boats, a 42-year old mahogany boatbuilder based in Holland, Michigan. The first 2 years of owning Grand Craft have been full of plenty twists and turns, yet they both firmly believe that they are on the road to success. Patrick is a very proud father of three: Brendan (a junior at University of Illinois studying Advertising), Ian (a Sophomore at University of Illinois studying Political Science & Business) and Cara (a Senior in High School at St. Ignatius College Prep).
