(Note: This is a review for the entire series, which - at this point - consists of 8 episodes.)

"The Space Within" is an audio drama with an interesting premise, good production values, and competent acting and direction. While the story starts strong (if a bit predictable), it unfortunately loses cohesion quickly, as the authors introduce way more characters than they could reasonably explore within the short time frame. In the last episode, the story peters out in a very unsatisfying cliffhanger for a second season that apparently didn't get made (yet?) - it doesn't provide any form of closure, doesn't resolve any of the open questions, puts the protagonist in a completely new and dangerous situation - and then just breaks off. As of now, the story feels disappointingly unfinished.

The main character was interesting and emotionally relatable, but I found her professional demeanor very hard to believe. Her style of therapy felt very directive (she presents her interpretation of a client's emotions as truth, rather than exploring them together), during a test she tells a child immediately whether an answer was correct or not (thereby confounding the variables), and she fairly frequently says things that a professional never would. Such elements won't make or break the story, but I feel that a bit more research and/or counseling from an expert could have been useful for the writers.

Ultimately, while I did enjoy my time with "The Space Within", it felt more like a wasted opportunity than anything else. The cast would have deserved a better and more coherent script, in my opinion.

Good production values, faltering story
