Kicking off our very first Hometown Story episode, I am so excited to announce our debut interview with Maureen Boyle, author and journalist. Maureen is a local name that resonates with anyone who has followed some of the most prolific true crime cases across the state of Massachusetts, particularly the New Bedford Highway Killings. In the late 1980's and into the early 1990's Maureen was a relentless journalist covering the disappearances and subsequent investigations of the murders of 11 women across southeastern Massachusetts. Maureen has authored Shallow Graves, a book which documents her dogged coverage during the discovery, investigation and the naming of suspects. Maureen has also covered two additional stories in her writings, with her latest release, Child Last Seen. In Child Last Seen, Maureen shares the story of Pennsylvania teen, Patty Desmond, who went missing. The book tells Patty's story and the uphill battle it took her local police department to finally bring a culprit to justice.
