In this episode Chris Richmond sits down with Patrick Freund and they discuss both his plumbing business as well as his HVAC business and exactly how he runs both of them as successfully as he does. Patrick is the VP of Service Sales. A Texas-EX in 1990 with a BBA in marketing, Pat worked as a Business Development Manager with Frito-Lay and Ozarka Water, before moving on to C2Media. In April of 2000, Pat joined CAE to head up marketing and is now responsible for the service sales of both Comfort-Air and Primo Plumbing. The business was started in 1964 by his dad and uncle and is family owned and operated today with over 150 on the staff.   Here are some highlights from the episode: Patrick’s background and how he got involved in the heating & air conditioning and plumbing businesses. The reasons behind Patrick’s move to go to Plumber’s Apprentice school after already being in adulthood, so as to better his business. Patrick’s balance between the plumbing and HVAC side of the business. What Patrick looks for when he hires an apprentice, and the qualification needed to work with him. Why the program Patrick runs is so desirable for high school graduates who maybe don’t want to go the normal route of taking on a loan for a 4-year degree. A look into a myth that Patrick would like to bust about the business or about the industry so that people are more aware overall.
