I've been able to bring down my running from 10 minute miles to 7 minute and 30 second miles in 1 year. This has been my biggest accomplishment of my entire life and I feel the biggest contribution has been developing my mindset to force my body develop muscle fibers that will help me sustain a faster pace. Some people are given this talent naturally, I'm not one of them. The only way I was able to accomplish this is by putting in the work, consistently working hard, focusing on proper form and telling myself "I can do anything." The first year of running I changed my mentality from run/walk to focusing on running. To make this switch from walk breaks to just running fast even though it was hard no matter how bad I wanted it. That's what changed for me, whenever I had doubts about the pace I would tell myself "I can do anything." And thinking like that made me able to go farther than ever before physically.
